INLET

Informed by the modern architecture, we wanted to create a landscape that would speak for itself while also complementing the materials and form used for the build. To create this beachy and natural vibe, we integrated swaths of grasses with varying textures, colours, and forms, a simplistic plant palette that transforms into a symphony of movement and interest. As with every site, contributing to the restoration of local ecosystems is key, thus a combination of native plant species were planted in the upper bank areas and below the canopy of existing Arbutus and Fir trees. For the hardscape elements, a gravel and cedar tie staircase guides the user through the transitory spaces and towards an intimate patio space, edged tall grasses. Bistro lights strung above enchant this experience and extend the livability of the outdoor spaces after sundown. Custom fencing echoes the same patterns found on the corrugated metal facade, and a rooftop planting on the detached office added another layer of visual interest from all levels of the site. Simple, elegant, and fun.
