Cedar Grove in Uculet

Nestled into an old growth forest the site is surrounded by the wild west coast beauty of Ucluelet BC. Our design approach was to restore the disturbed area around the home from construction with all indigenous plant material. We also created new pathways to the Aux Boxes (TM), which the homeowners use as their home offices, as well as to a sunken fireplace patio. Two playful pieces we enjoyed designing and incorporating with the client were a custom swing in the front and a double hammock in the back spanning between the two aux boxes.

Our material choices were influenced by warm cedar tones and the black accents. We worked with Corten Steel to echo the cedar and charcoal tinted concrete for the paths. For the driveway we used gravel sealed with permeable plant based polymer (Romex. TM) and charcoal concrete for the parking pad. The result of this garden design was a true reflection of our clients, stylish, playful and connected with nature
