Urban Productive Garden
Designed to yield fruit, vegetables and herbs while echoing the aesthetic of the home.
The architecture, colour and materials used in the design of this home are so bold and unique that when creating a food production garden and rear terrace for this project, there was no need to look anywhere else for inspiration.
The corrugated red metal of the home is echoed in the metal troughs used to contain the vegetables, herbs and fruit for this productive urban garden.
The terrace space is located under the canopy of two large Douglas Firs. In addition to creating focal points, the trees also provide shade and cover for family hang-time in the garden.
Flanking each side of the terrace is a modern native garden. The plots are divided into colour blocks that reflect the rectilinear shape of the home and also help to define the terrace space without blocking light.
